For those seeking an urban venue in the heart of Asheville, The Venue is a great option. Close to several churches, hotels, restaurants and bars, The Venue offers an eclectic, elegant mix of vintage tile floors, barn ceilings, and exposed brick walls. The Venue allows for flexibility in selecting vendors for your big day, including rentals and catering, but is able to provide additional services within their packages.

Boasting three unique spaces that can be used separately or all together, The Venue can accommodate both wedding ceremonies and receptions. When you enter through the front doors, you’ll enter the Market Level space that can comfortably fit 200 guests for a cocktail reception or 100 for a sit-down dinner. Just up a few stairs, the Mezzanine Level accommodates 250 guests for a sit-down dinner or up to 350 for a cocktail reception. The second floor is a beautiful option for 130 for a sit-down dinner or 200 for a cocktail reception with a large balcony overlooking the mountains of Asheville.

Thank you to Jeremy Russell Photography (Asheville, NC) and Cunningham Photo Artists (Charlotte, NC) for sharing these images with us from weddings we’ve worked on together! Take a look at The Venue and see what you think.

Brooke and Keith worked across the street from each other. I believe the story goes that Keith first spotted Brooke while she was outside her office on the phone and eventually their paths crossed (or he made sure they crossed…). Keith surprised Brooke with a proposal during a family celebration of her birthday, which was also a surprise that he planned.

Prior to the wedding Brooke + Keith enlisted the talented team of Visio for their engagement shoot. They wanted to do a vintage style session inspired by the era of the Biltmore House. We incorporated these photos in the save-the-dates, custom stamps and the guest book photo puzzle.

As for the wedding, they envisioned a celebration with their family and friends that was simply elegant with a touch of vintage. They wanted a fun band, good food and an element of surprise for their guests, most of whom had never been to the Biltmore Estate.

The ceremony was to be on the Front Lawn of the Biltmore House but due to weather we had to relocate to the Italian Gardens. Guests all fired toy guns as the couple kissed as a token of their approval and to kick of the celebration. The couple recessed down the aisle accompanied by a string trio playing “Don’t Stop Believing”…awesome!

The reception took place on the South Terrace under a tent with custom chandeliers and a color palate of gold, burgundy and copper accenting the fall colors. Flora created a vintage photo booth for the guests to take pictures and Atlanta Party Band entertained the guests through the evening.

One of the highlights of the evening was the fireworks display over the South Terrace. For the farewell the couple departed in a vintage rolls royce surrounded by oversized LED balloons.

We had such an amazing team of vendors on board to execute Brooke + Keith’s vision; Flora, Visio, Atlanta Party Band, Get Lit Lighting, Asheville String Trio, Tim Lolley, Makeup at the Grove Arcade, Lola Salon, Asheville Trolley, Elite Transportation, Celebrations and of course the fabulous staff and chefs at the Biltmore Estate.

I loved working with Paige and Trey on their wedding at The Reserve at Lake Keowee last summer to create a fresh, classic lake wedding featuring colors of ivory, coral, khaki and pops of spring green.

Their wedding day began as a gorgeous summer morning, but an afternoon thunderstorm threatened to ruin the outdoor ceremony plans. Fortunately, showers began to subside and guests took their seats in time for the ceremony to begin (and luckily, the rain cooled the air a little)! Paige and Trey’s friends played music for the ceremony, which was very special, not to mention beautiful!

The reception was a lot of fun! It was exciting to see the bridal party break out into a flash mob after dinner – what a surprise! Even the parents joined in the planned choreography. After a sparkler exit, the party continued down at the lake as the shoes came off and toes dipped in the water.

The following day, the brides identical twin sister, Lauren, was proposed to at a family gathering and I am happy to say that I am the coordinator for their wedding, too! 2 weddings in 1 year for 1 family!! Phew!! I can’t wait for Lauren’s wedding in a couple weeks.

Old Edwards Inn + Spa is located in the beautiful mountain town of Highlands, NC. Voted Travel & Leisure’s Worlds Best 2013, among numerous other honors, Old Edwards Inn + Spa encompasses several blocks of the heart of downtown Highlands. About 2 hours from Atlanta and 1.5 hours from Asheville, Highlands is a wonderful vacation town set atop the southwest plateau of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. There are opportunities to explore the great outdoors with lakes, streams and waterfalls, enjoy great dining and boutique shopping, and just relax and get away at the spa or the comfort of your room.

Just a few minutes down the road from the resort, The Farm at Old Edwards Inn is a rustic and elegant venue that hosts weddings declared simple and natural to black tie and formal. The Farm features indoor and outdoor wedding venues for up to 275 guests. The lovely event lawn and wedding garden is a gorgeous location for a ceremony and outdoor cocktails. The barn and the barn pavilion are a chance to get out of the sun or stay warm in the cooler months. The gorgeous stone fireplaces provide a lovely ambiance for indoor ceremonies, cocktails and reception spaces.

One thing that makes The Farm special is the culinary experience. Chef Johannes Klapdohr draws from farm-to-table philosophies and works with each bride to plan the best meal possible for taste and budget. It’s a special treat when Chef announces the menu before guests are served or stations are opened. We recommend the truffle mac and cheese! 🙂

It’s hard to describe the beauty of this venues in words, so here are images from wedding’s we’ve planned from Paul Johnson Photography, Parker J PhotographyWhitebox Photo, and Irresistible Portraits.

Kelly is an architect so one of the biggest challenges was locating a venue that fit her vision. She wanted something that had lines and was visually appealing in light and structure. It took 3 visits to determine that The Baker Center at the North Carolina Arboretum could be transformed to fit the Classic and Modern theme.

Monochromatic white with touches of gold, draping, lighting… these were all the elements that Kelly wanted to incorporate. She knew what she wanted and together we created a team to capture her vision. The theme for the reception decor was not what we typically see for Asheville weddings and Blossoms at Biltmore Park was definitely up for the challenge.

It took 2 days of set up to transform the venue. By draping the ceilings a softness was created juxtaposing the linear designs of the venue. Hundreds of candles lined the window sills. An arrangement was suspended over the head table that was covered in white hydrangeas, roses, orchids and candles and clear glass balls hung at varying heights over the table. A custom backdrop was the focal point for the bar with a series of white square cubbies that contained unique elements in white and gold.

As for the donuts, Paul gave them to Kelly when he proposed. It goes back to an email he sent her early on in their relationship that had two donuts talking to each other. The male (plain glazed) was talking about the female (sprinkled with icing), saying “She thinks I’m so plain, but she’s my everything.” He thought it was the perfect depiction of them, so he had the donuts made for when he proposed. Kelly had trays of doughnuts paraded through the reception at the end of the night. Kelly had her cake baker selected before she even met Paul…and what a cake it was! 5 Tiered with sugar flowers it was quite a statement.

I met with Robin + Drew almost one year to the date of their wedding. They attended high school together – Drew was a freshman and Robin was a sophomore in high school, but they were just friends. After Robin’s senior year was complete, she graduated and attended East Tennessee State University and Drew had another year of high school and attended University of Tennessee Knoxville. After Robin’s junior year of college a friend from high school invited her to play flag football and Drew happened to be there. Little did they know, seeing each other that weekend would eventually lead them to become husband and wife.

After dating for 5 years Drew proposed to Robin at Folly Beach on the Pier with her family waiting to celebrate the news. Robin is a kindergarden teacher, which I just love, and Drew is studying hard in law school. Both have busy schedules and were living in separate towns, so they knew the first thing they needed to do was hire a planner.  I couldn’t be more honored that they selected me, I so enjoyed working with them. From the minute we started the planning process it was hard not to fall in love with this sweet, wonderful couple who clearly adore each other. Robin will be the first to tell you that she didn’t think she needed a planner, she thought she could do it on her own, but through every step of the way she was in constant awe of what it takes to put a wedding together and so incredibly thankful to have Asheville Event Co. on her team.

We selected The Venue on Market Street in Downtown Asheville. The exposed brick walls, gorgeous existing decor and variety of spaces lent itself perfectly to the ceremony + reception. We decided on a palate of purple and silver which turned out to be the colors of the season – who knew! To add a touch of elegance to the slightly rustic ambiance of the Venue we brought in chandeliers, draping and custom lighting and lounge furniture. We utilized seasonal elements such as the christmas tree – which served a dual purpose; it held favors for the guests, a snowflake ornament as well as served as an area for guests to leave the couple a gift, under the tree. The team of vendors that we put together for this wedding went above and beyond to create a spectacular event for this couple which exceeded all of our expectations.  Many many thanks to all the hard work from the staff and chef at The Venue for creating an exceptional menu and for taking the s’mores station and hot chocolate station to the next level. Blossoms at Biltmore Park created the perfect decor elements that were exactly what the bride envisioned. Classic Event Rentals provided the chandeliers, lounges and created the ambient glow that was crucial to creating the warm feeling we wanted for the space and changed through the night as we went from ceremony to dance party. To capture all this magic and gorgeousness we were lucky to have Kristy Vest Photography and Magic Hour Creative on board and their work which follows speaks for itself. Groovetown rocked the house and had the guests dancing until the bittersweet end and speaking of Sweet! Artista cakes created a gorgeous wedding cake, cup cake and fun golf bag cake for the groom. But in case that wasn’t enough…there was the s’mores station and hot chocolate station to partake in.
