Truth be told I was a bit stumped when Emily contacted me. Turns out I would have 2 clients with the same exact name (first and last) getting married in Highlands within months of each other. However both Emily’s had very different visions for their wedding days…

Emily + Dave wanted a classic, traditional, destination wedding in Highlands where Emily spent many a summer growing up. The Highlands Country Club served as the ceremony + reception location for their celebration. They envisioned an outdoor ceremony on the putting green with a natural arbor and arrangements that complemented the scenery.  A formal seated dinner followed by some fabulous food + wine and then guests celebrated along with the bride + groom on the dance floor with “In the Pocket”. 6 of Four did an amazing job capturing these gorgeous images of the day!

Legend has it (at Highlands Country Club that is), if you bury a bottle of Bourbon (in this case Woodford Reserve) a month prior to the wedding that it won’t rain. We did + it didn’t. What a fun moment when the Woodford bottle was dug up and shared amongst the revelers. 🙂

Lindsay and Phillip chose the majestic site of Diana at The Biltmore Estate for their July wedding.  The elegant mix of ivory lace, butter yellow flowers, gold chiavari chairs and touches of green magnolia leaves set the tone for a beautiful classic event.  The long range views of the luxurious Biltmore House and mountains laid the groundwork for this black tie affair that was classic and timeless. Lindsay and Phillip, surrounded by their dear friends and family, celebrated with a night of incredible food, abundance of laughter, and tears of joy as they danced the night away to an amazing band – Simply Irresistible!

I absolutely loved the timeless elegance of Sean and Emily’s wedding weekend this past October. From the welcome party and dinner at the Rugby Grange to the ceremony at Christ School Chapel followed by the reception at Biltmore Forest Country Club, each location held special memories for their families. The weekend was definitely a family affair with Sean’s mom and Emily’s parents coming to most of the meetings – it was such fun to plan the event together.

Emily was such a sweet bride – we connected from the beginning and I loved assisting her every step of the way. All of the design elements from Emily’s gorgeous lace wedding dress to the beauty of the chapel in the mountains to the classic garden roses and greenery in the tables capes, spoke to a traditional, beautiful, classic wedding.  The bride and groom did like to have some fun though – neon sunglasses, glow sticks and a very special dessert – rice krispie treats with sour patch and gummy worms – the groom’s favorite!  A very special thank you to all of the venues and vendors for creating such a perfect fall day for them!

We started the week featuring Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley as a gorgeous wedding venue and we are thrilled to end the week with one of our Canyon Kitchen weddings featured on Style Me Pretty!

Ida and Clay worked with Becca of Asheville Event Co. to put together a meaningful and memorable wedding and soiree. Incorporating American and Persian touches throughout the day from the ceremony and decor to the food allowed the couple to showcase their heritage and personalities.

We loved the floating lanterns at the end of the night before the newlyweds rode away on their tandem bike!

Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley is a stunning wedding and event space in Sapphire, NC. Lonesome Valley occupies 800 acres of gorgeous land and is nestled in the mountains of North Carolina. The backdrop of the venue is the breathtaking box canyon that is sure to wow you and your guests. We love working at this venue for several reasons, but we especially love the views and the food.

Executive Chef John Fleer, a James Beard finalist, directs a top-notch culinary program which provides delicious meals using local, fresh produce and organic selections. (He is also the head chef at Rhubarb, a new restaurant in downtown Asheville.) Canyon Kitchen, the restaurant, is located in the Jennings Barn adorned with wood and zinc-top tables, rope and iron light fixtures, and indoor and outdoor stone fireplaces. Guests up to 120 can be seated indoors and with tenting the venue is able to accommodate up to 250 seated.

Sarah Jennings, Special Events Director, holds an emotional connection to this property and enjoys “the rustic elegance of our facilities and the casual nature of our events.” She states that “because of all of these wonderful attributes, we attract wonderful families to host their special day with us; folks that appreciate good food and a great view.”

The First National BizBash Event Style Awards recognized Canyon Kitchen as the Best Wedding Venue in North America and the East Coast!

From our first conversation, I was really excited to be part of the planning process with Leah and Patrick. As Leah explained her vision for the reception – ” a gathering for foodies, not your typical wedding reception with round tables, more cafe style…”and unique ideas for the music – “an electric guitarist flown in from LA accompanying a DJ and live drummer…” I got as excited as she was about them (even though I am not 100% sure Patrick was certain it would all work). The results were flawless, a gorgeous wedding with unique and personal ideas mastermind by the bride.  The layout and amazing food stations were a hit with everyone and the surprises just kept coming…

Rather than having standard rounds for the reception, we used square farm table hi-tops to create a U-shaped section as you entered the pavilion. The idea was to create a more casual atmosphere where guests could eat, drink and mingle, rather than having assigned seats. We chose a marmalade shantung linen from BBJ linens that added just the right touch of color on the tables and Oakleaf created gorgeous centerpieces in wooden boxes that kept it rustic with additional coral and green elements.

The menu was custom and outstanding! Food stations offered guests choices ranging from local a Sunburst Trout & Ahi Tuna station to shrimp & grits, to Angus Ribs, to Truffled Mac + Cheese. Divine!

Artista created a custom wedding cake that included all the guests names written on the icing. Along with the cake, there was also a dessert station and a s’mores station.

The music choices were creative and resulted in amazing performances. Leah hired Jennifer Spagnola, an electric violinist from LA, to perform the ceremony and cocktail hour music. For the reception, DJ JD  hit the stage and was accompanied by  live drummer  in addition to several performances with Spags, the Violinist. The energy and entertainment of this trio was unlike any I have seen from such a unique concept. Occasionally, the drummer and violinist would join the crowd on the dance floor. The guests loved all the unique touches that Leah and Patrick brought to their reception.

What a fantastic Thanksgiving treat to have one of our weddings featured on Style Me Pretty today!

Kelly + Paul’s ceremony took place at the Basilica in Asheville, The celebration continued in the Baker Center at the NC Arboretum which was transformed into a stunning reception space with monochromatic white tones and touches of gold. Gorgeous details and decor by Blossom’s at Biltmore Park. It was such a pleasure working with the husband and wife team of Bamber Photography. They did an incredible job capturing all of the fabulous details of this day!

I absolutely adored Becca and Jon and their families.  From the first time I heard their engagement story (It involved biking and their sweet dog!), I knew that we were going to get along perfectly.  Both Becca and Jon are athletic, fit and love spending time outdoors BUT they love beer and specifically Asheville’s beer scene – especially New Belguim’s Fat Tire  (Did I already say how much I loved them?).  So we made sure to incorporate their love of the outdoors and biking (Wait until you see Blossoms at Biltmore Park’s Amazing Bicycle Wheel Chandelier!) and beer into an incredible destination weekend for their guests.

The weekend began with a laid-back rehearsal dinner at Asheville’s favorite BBQ restaurant – 12 Bones (and of course we featured a lot of local beer!) and ended with a beautiful intimate ceremony in the Butterfly Garden at the Conservatory at Biltmore Estate with the reception at Antler Hill Barn also at Biltmore.  The rustic design of the barn spoke perfectly to their love of the outdoors.  Thank you so much to Woodward and Rick for capturing these beautiful photos and to the rest of the amazing vendors for their professionalism and support!  Congratulations Becca and Jon!

Charlene had no idea that she had selected the “color of the year” when we first met but indeed emerald was the lead color in this wedding.  We had so much fun when they came for planning meetings in Asheville, from the first time we met until the wedding weekend it was hard not to fall in love with this couple and their families. The Wedding day itself was one of the best of the season and the Deerpark courtyard transformed to a romantic ceremony backdrop with some subtle accent draping. The highlights for me were the Greek traditions that they incorporated into the reception, the traditional dances and the dollar dance – where guests shower the couple with dollar bills… (They made out pretty good). There was so much to love about the personal details but most of all about this family.

Woodward + Rick did a wonderful job as always capturing this couple and Magic Hour Creative brought me to tears reliving the day with their video (click the link to see!)…
