MoogFest Update

July 2, 2013

We are honored to be collaborating with Moog Music for MoogFest happening April 25-27, 2014 in venues all over Downtown Asheville. It’s almost a year away but we want to make sure you “Save the Date” because we definitely want to see you there!  Here are some details from a recent press release:

Moog Music is excited to announce its new partnership with Paxahau, the Detroit based producer of the Movement Electronic Music Festival and Detroit Jazzfest. The two companies are coming together to co-produce Moogfest 2014 taking place April 25 – 27, 2014 in Asheville, North Carolina. Moogfest is the annual festival created by Moog that celebrates the innovative spirit of its founder, Dr. Bob Moog.

Mike Adams, President of Moog Music, has been motivated to re-tool the festival in recent years. The 2014 Moog Fest will include a new logo to reflect Moog’s culture of creativity, technology, and musical innovation. In addition, the new springtime dates allow for daytime programming in which the intersection of music and technology will be showcased against the backdrop of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. “Moogfest is not just about Moog or music, it’s about celebrating the creative, forward-thinking spirit of both Bob and the city of Asheville. We’ll shine a light on inventors, new media artists, circuit benders, programmers, and people with ideas that could change the way we experience music, art and performance.” said Emmy Parker, Moog’s Senior Brand Manager.  The additional programming will compliment Moogfest’s tradition of leading edge musical performances from a line-up that pays homage to the early pioneers of electronic music, established giants and the artists pushing musical expression forward today.

Stay tuned to hear more about this incredible festival!  For additional information follow Moogfest on Facebook or Twitter.

Our weddings have been keeping us so busy that I’m a little late with this, but I wanted to say how honored we were to take part in the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Exhibition Games in Asheville & Hendersonville. Over 1500 people showed up to watch the renowned team compete against local first responders, and we raised a lot of money for Operation Welcome Home! The first night was a spectacular event at McCormick Field, followed by a very moving day (albeit a little rainy) at West Hendersonville High School.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support the event, and thank you HonorAir for allowing us to take part in it!

This was a very sweet wedding for an equally sweet couple at Claxton Farm. Lisa and Jonathan had known each other quite a while – they had actually gone to prom together in high school. However, they went their separate ways and later in life reconnected. Since Jonathan is a teacher we used a lot of chalkboards in the decor, which also happen to go perfectly with the rustic country setting. I hope you enjoy these beautiful moments!

Sara and Doug were such a great couple, and I loved planning their wedding! Both engineers, they were very involved in the details of the wedding. Doug has a unique interest in grains, which we incorporated into the decor.. We’ve done a lot of weddings at Deerpark, but this one was unique due to a lounge area we created, something that isn’t normally seen at the venue. I just loved the relaxed and fun feel we created – this weekend was the only one of the whole season that was over 100 degrees, but everyone had a blast anyway! I hope you enjoy these images from such a special weekend!

Lisa was one of my favorite brides last year – such a genuinely sweet and good person that I just loved putting together her wedding. Lisa had suffered some tragedy earlier in her life, and this wedding was the start of a new happy chapter. At Claxton Farm we created the epitome of a Southern fairy tale wedding – we had mason jars, rustic flower arrangements and a horse-drawn carriage. The couple’s lemon-lime theme fit in perfectly with the natural setting, and all of the little details came together to create a perfect day!

Hunter and I connected instantly. She spent many years riding on the Estate so it was appropriate to host her wedding reception in the Antler Hill Barn. She clearly needed a planner as she was in the process of moving from Charleston to Italy to be with her fiance. Dreamy…indeed. As she was galavanting through Italy capturing some amazing photos we planned most of their wedding via e-mail.  Keeping with the seasonal colors and adding a touch of elegance to the barn with crystals and chandeliers  This adorable couple continued their romance back in Italy…

While many see May as the start of wedding season, we were thrilled to kick off our event season with a special event for Harmony Motors. Porsche is releasing their all new 2014 Cayman, and Harmony Motors asked us to help them put on a launch for local customers. The new Cayman has been especially designed to handle curves, so we focused the entire event around the “Code of the Curve” theme. From a circular bar to curvy buffet tables, to curved shrimp on skewers, curves made a presence throughout the room. My other favorite detail of this event were the stunning floral arrangements that Studio Flora Diva made, incorporating miniature Caymans into the beautiful flowers.

The night culminated in a dramatic reveal of Harmony Motor’s first Cayman, which was hidden under a silk sheet during most of the event. After projecting a video to build up the crowd, spotlights hit the car just as the cover was pulled off! All I have to say is that this car is BEAUTIFUL. If Harmony wants to pay us in Porsche Caymans next time, we will be happy to work something out 🙂

Here are a few photos our staff took during the event, hope you enjoy them!

Love, Family, Happiness…Kayla & Brian brought their families together in Highlands to celebrate their marriage and family.   Actually married already, this was their chance to tie the knot with family and friends surrounding them and for their sweet infant son Aiden to be a part of it.  A glorious weekend spent enjoying moments of laughter and love.  Kayla had exact ideas of what she wanted…a summertime mountain wedding, describing it as fairylike, ethereal, earthy.   Using wildflowers & herbs, touches of birch wood accents, garden details to complete the vision.

So many fun aspects to mention:  vows written in journals then placed in a beautiful ceremonial wine box, a fun slideshow, a generational dance, a s’mores fire roast the with an awesome sparkler sendoff, all the guests were invited continue the party into the night at the after party at The Rib Shack, a part of the Old Edwards Inn venues.

The best compliment was being told that weekend that they wanted to take me home…just to have me help plan their everyday lives!  Loved that!   Thank you Kayla & Brian for inviting me to be a part of your incredible day, I wish you all the best as you anxiously await your second child!  Congratulations!
Now for you to enjoy the moments….

It started with a love letter, which built their relationship word by word. Victoria and Josh are not only a beautiful couple but the love they share is timeless. Victoria wanted to incorporate their love letters into their magical day set atop Bearwallow Mountain in Hendersonville, NC. To honor this beautiful paper flowers were created from their letters, the cake was adorned with actual words written by both bride and groom and all the guests wrote sweet notes on a 1940’s typewriter.

The day gorgeous, the bride glowing, the setting perfect to celebrate this couples incredible beginning.  I hope you enjoy these moments….

Even though they knew each other in high school, Michael and Emily didn’t start dating until they attended Wofford College together, and it was another 7 years before they tied the knot. This special day was worth the wait though, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it! Growing up, Emily spent most of her summers in Asheville, and it was one of the favorite weekend getaways for she and Michael while they were in college, so it seemed like an obvious choice for their wedding destination.

Emily and Michael were married at Lioncrest on Biltmore Estate followed by a reception at Deerpark. Part of what made this wedding so much fun to plan were all the little details. Emily had a lot of ideas about the food, which resulted in some of the most unique food stations we’ve ever had. Laid out over rustic wood tables, there was a bruschetta station, a French fry station complete with both regular and sweet potato fries, and a mouth watering dessert station with mini strawberry shortcakes and eclairs.
